Master chef!

While we were in Varkala we met with a chef called Ani who taught us how to cook 6 different delicious Indian meals. We cooked;

Masala dosa – a thin crispy pancake stuffed with tasty vegetables;

Vegetable pakora – carrots, cabbage and beans all deep fried a bit like an onion bhaji;

Paneer butter masala – cheese curry;

Vegetable kuruma – vegetables in sauce;

Coconut rice – instead of just normal rice, this rice was fried with coconut;

Pineapple payapum – a very sweet pineapple pudding that was quite milky.

Each and every dish was utterly delectable. We ate and ate until it felt like we might explode. So then we saved some for dinner the next day. Being so wonderfully organised, I wrote down every recipe with clear instructions. I can’t wait to get home and get cooking for all of my friends and family!

  2. Hello Erin!

    What an amazing message to receive – so many questions!! Most importantly, coconut water is DELICIOUS. It is my favourite thing to drink. I wish we had coconut trees back home! It’s a bit sweet and smooth.

    I definitely feel like I am being quite brave, especially when it comes to some of the big bugs. But there’s no way I would miss out on seeing all of these amazing places just because of a few bugs. When we walked into our room yesterday there was a little frog hopping around my backpack!

  4. Hi Emma,

    You’re right, it has been a long time. It has been over eight weeks now. We are still in India at the moment. We are in a place called Hampi. Try to find it on a map!
